Marcus Sanders is a Republican and represents a strong Conservative voice for the Great State of Alaska.
Marcus is a Chaplain Candidate at 2LT Army National Guard and works at the Mayoral Boards of Commissions and Safety & Security Specialist at Anchorage School District.
Marcus’ professional experience includes formerly serving as an Associate Pastor at the Greater Friendship Baptist Church and was a teacher’s assistant for special education and special needs.
Representing District G
Marcus Sanders is a lifelong Alaskan, born in Anchorage. He is an alumni and graduate of East High School. He is an Associate Pastor of the Greater Friendship Baptist Church and a former employee of the Anchorage School District at Wendler Middle School for over seven years. He formally served on the Fairview Community Council Executive Board, formerly severed on the Shiloh Community Housing Executive Board, and a member of the Rogers Park Community Council. He also served as Secretary for the UMED District 17 and Precinct Chairman for the Rogers Park Elementary School Precinct Executive Board Committee. He was appointed by Mayor Ethan Berkowitz to the John S Parks Naming Panel, which was successful in getting the Anchorage Transit Center named after that outstanding citizen. Served as NAACP Executive Board Second Chair and Vice President of SHRM Anchorage Chapter Wayland University.
Marcus is a family man and community-oriented leader who is focused on making the lives of all Alaskans better by Working Together.
Marcus is also a former Executive Board Member of the Anchorage Community Police Relations Task Force and was formerly a Bridge Builders of Anchorage Executive Board Member. He also served as a former first responder, as a Chaplain for the Anchorage Police and Anchorage Fire Department. Marcus recently served as the vice chair for the Alaska State Commission for Human Rights appointed by Michael J Dunleavy. Marcus was recently appointed to the Suicide Prevention Council in the role of Chaplain. Marcus Sanders was with the State of Alaska to the Department of Labor/Division of Vocational Rehabilitation as the Business Relations Coordinator. He served as a former second lieutenant with the Alaska State Defense Force where he serves in the role as Chaplain, and serves as a Chaplain Candidate for the Alaska National Guard. Marcus was also appointed as the newest Board of Director for Nine-Star Employment and Education Services.
Marcus recently graduated from Wayland Baptist University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Christian Ministry and with a minor in Human Services and is currently studying and on to graduate school for a joint Masters of Divinity/MBA program, and will be completing his educational journey in the fall of 2022. Marcus formally served as a Chaplain for the Department of Corrections Chaplain Ministry. He served as a mentor for the Alaska Military Youth Academy and was a former member of the Shiloh Young Lions (My Brother’s Keeper Mentorship).
